I want to thank you for reaching out to Kush Kards.  I am 24 years old from Westchester County. I have small experience in the MMJ industry, however, it is rapidly growing as my business expands. I graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Home Products Development. I then began my career as a Fashion Bath designer, which is where I currently am today. I design & coordinate Collections sold in Bed, Bath and Beyond, Target, Kohl’s, JC Penny, consisting of the shower curtain, towels, rugs, and bath accessories. 

What’s great about this industry is they it is very welcoming and we are glad to know that your business is growing quickly. Could you please tell us about Kushkards and where the idea came from?

Kushkards are the epitome of the traditional greeting card, enhanced with the capability to insert a pre-roll. There is also an added bonus with two match-strikers placed on the bottom of each card to have a surface to light a match!  Specifically designed for the pro-cannabis users. This allows customers the opportunity to share with friends, family, coworkers or new acquaintances their common interest in a fun and unique way.  The idea was simple, I knew there was a better way to give marijuana as a gift rather than putting small bags of it in an envelope. I decided to make it more clever, fun and easy! 

A clever they are! Who comes up with these amazing designs and taglines?

I come up with all the designs. My partner Chelsea, a former friend who I went to F.I.T with helps come up with the tagline. Also, many of my friends do as well in casual conversation. The ideas are endless. 

Do you offer other products besides greeting cards?

At the moment we only offer cards. We would like to specialize in one product and the branch out in the near future. Some potential ideas are in the works which we will share with you all very soon. 

Can I customize my own card?

Customization of Kushkards can happen through a numerous of ways. If you are in direct contact with me, we can start via email. Or one can email me through the website and request a customized option. Also, a Kushkards app is on the way where customization will be fun and easy!

This day and age an app is always beneficial for many companies! That is excited and we are excited to see these upcoming changes and the creativity your customers will bring!  What makes your product original?

Every card is handmade. This is huge and makes us stand out and original. The hand-made process starts from the design to adding raw materials, to the colored envelopes and all the way to what the finished product looks like once in the hands of our end user. 

Did you face any startup challenges? If so, how did you resolve them?

The word startup always comes with issues. That is just part of this business. Kushkards is doing well facing them. One that I found to be a bit challenging was reaching out to the collectives and dispensaries and having them agree to carry my product. However, once I show them my full package and following on social media quickly rising they begin to change their direction. 

You mentioned an app, some possible opportunities of new products, any other goals plans for your business in the next few years that you would like to share with us today?

I see Kushkards expanding in the next few years, being placed in all states where the use of Cannabis, whether it is medicinal and/or recreational and in smoke shops where the laws still have not yet changed. I will begin traveling again back to Denver in June, Portland in July and California in August to connect and build more relationships with vendors and businesses in the industry. 

What was your biggest accomplishment this year?

My biggest accomplishment this year was launching Kushkards on 420 in Denver, Colorado. I was able to travel to Denver on the busiest weekend of the year and sell my product. I called it the “backpack” of dreams. I carried a backpack with all my cards and went into many dispensaries confident. Within that one trip I was able to establish relationships with many businesses and now you can find Kushkards in three dispensaries with the interest continued to rise.

Any advice you would like to offer other entrepreneurs or startups that are launching in the Cannabis Industry?

The best advice I can give is to always believe in your brand and if you want to make something happen, you just have to go for it and do it.
