Focused on the technology opportunities in cannabis, New West Summit is a two-day conference held in the heart of downtown San Francisco where startup founders, investors, incubators and innovations in cannabis gathered to share and learn.
Open to the public for the first time, The ArcView Group, a curated, accredited investor network, gave a live demonstration of their pitch events, where attendees were able to see the entrepreneurs seeking funding present. Many of the grads and current companies under incubation at CanopyBoulder were in attendance, with graduate CEO, Holly Alberti-Evans from Healthy Headie Lifestyle taking the “best pitch” award.
Well balanced panels of experts discussed the latest in cannabis technology, with CEO’s and founders of companies like Smoke Reports, an open API of cannabis products and strains, FlowKana, a farm to table model of artisanal cannabis supporting the local growers north of San Francisco, and Steep Hill, a well known cannabis testing lab that is pioneering research and exploration of cannabis genomics.
Focused insight sessions on applying to Canopy Boulder, the first canna-business incubator, and the future of dispensaries in 2020, startup culture, entrepreneurial insights and innovative thinking abound. Stepping outside, the unmistakable scent of dank cannabis as growers from the Mendocino and Emerald Triangle share a bit of what they’ve been working on with dispensary owners, tech junkies and cannabis geneticists.
Unlike other cannabis business conferences, where technology is an aspect of the industry, New West Summit delivered on the promise to make technology central to the event, and witnessing the new devices, technologies and innovations around the industry was inspiring and awe-inducing while bringing valuable insight and guidance to the entrepreneurs in the audience.
