The cannabis and technology industries will collide  on November 20th and 21st in San Francisco. The first-ever New West Summit will feature an impressive list of guests and performance by reggae artist Pato Banton.

The New West Summit was founded by Jim McAlpine and Dean Arbit. The B2B trade show has been compared to TechCrunch’s Disrupt. Jim McAlpine left the ski and snowboard industry when California was hit hard with drought. He co-founded the 420 Games as well as The New West Summit.

“What sets New West Summit apart from other cannabis business conferences is the extreme focus on new and disruptive technologies,” McAlpine told the SF Gate. “We are going to show the marketplace how tech will be a key component in the integration of cannabis to mainstream culture.”

Before the New West Summit, Arbit co-founded TRUmedia who, with Hearst Media, published the popular cannabis news source Smell the Truth. Smell the Truth is published by the SF Gate.

David Downs will co-produce the panels. Downs contributes to the East Bay Express and CULTURE magazine. His award-winning jounalism has appeared in the New York Times, WIRED, Rolling Stone, the San Francisco Chronicle, etc.

The event will consist of 10 panels and an exhibition to showcase trends in preparation for legalization in 2016.
