Leafly has grown to more than 35 full-time employees and over 147,000 reviews on its’ platform to date, those numbers are a testament to Leafly’s team on successfully expanding from three founders and 17 reviews during its’ startup days in 2010. Cy Scott, Brian Wansolich, and Scott Vickens cofounded Leafly back in 2010. Their goal was to help educate cannabis users about the varieties of strains and dispensary locations available to them in their areas. In 2011, Leafly was acquired by Privateer Holdings marking the first investment by a private equity firm in the cannabis industry.

Leafly is among good company: Microsoft, Dell, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as Inc. 5000 honorees.”
In 2014, Leafly became the first cannabis company to be able to buy a full page ad on the New York Times, “Leafly’s ad in The Times features the slogan “Just Say Know,” part of the company’s campaign to improve the public’s understanding of the increasingly legal (on the state level, at least) drug,” as stated in Fortune.com. This ad ran in response to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signing into law the Compassionate Care Act, that brought medicinal cannabis to the state.
Leafly has grown as a worldwide brand and deserves to be recognized for such accomplishments as a cannabis company paving the way for the industry. The website now generates close to 6 million monthly visits and 31 million page views across both its’ web page and mobile apps. Leafly’s numbers continue to grow, averaging 10 percent month after month over the past two years, although 75 percent of that audience is based in the United States. Through company growth, Leafly’s product offerings have expanded along with its payroll. The company now offers more than just strain, doctor and dispensary guides, but an archive of cannabis-related knowledge as well. Leafly boasts a five-person editorial staff that regularly produces content ranging from basic information to more in-depth cultural features.
